Deseree, Owner

entrepreneur, world traveler, mother & wife

I started my career as a member of guest services at Graeber & Company Salon and Spa in downtown Boise in 2003. It was here that I fell in love with the industry and wanted to figure out a way to work with my mentors forever. I was privately instructed by Mat Slater, Global Educator for Aveda while I was enrolled in cosmetology school and continued to work in the salon while finishing my license. I have been lucky enough to be mentored by the best veteran stylists and educators in the area. These amazing professionals have taught me as much about life as they did the industry and hair artistry. Through them, I was fortunate enough to be able to learn the history of beauty in Boise and the world.

I currently travel the world to attend advanced education seminars and fashion shows. I have styled and done makeup for photo shoots, style blogs, book signings, and in 2009 I did the styling and makeup for America Ferrara from Ugly Betty. More than anything else, I really enjoy the every day life I lead behind my chair. My clientele has transcended the role of "guest" and I love that I get to call them my friends.

In August 2015 I left my salon of 12 years and started Collective Concept. It had been a dream for a long time, and it has been one of the greatest decisions I've ever made. The mission was to create a positive and creative environment for myself and my fellow artists. I love working in a space surrounded by talented stylists, awesome artwork, locally made jewelry, and a product line that practices kindness and environmental sustainability. Our salon has a clean aesthetic, with charming flares around every corner. The Belgravia building is 114 years old and has beautiful exposed brick, original fixtures, and magic only found in historical architecture.

The entire goal of my career is to make women look and feel as beautiful on the outside as they are on the inside.

Teri, Stylist & Salon Manager

 creative, comedian, champagne aficionado

After 13 years in the beauty industry I have been completely re-inspired to help guests feel happy and beautiful while having fun.

Sustainable beauty has always been at the core of my career. After 7 years of Aveda experience I found Davines simply by loving the packaging of their Authentic Moisturizing Balm. In-depth product education is what started me on the path to becoming a Davines educator.

I love looking for dimension, depth, and volume within everything I do... from cutting hair, placing color, to finishing a style.

The love of bridal styling has grown into a new passion for me, developing events for friends and family. While I am still learning the intricacies for event coordination, I enjoy helping others find the calm within the chaos. Letting the host enjoy the moments while the details are taken care of.

My greatest goal in life is to make people laugh and feel comfortable in their own skin. Let's be friends. Cheers!

Rebecca, Colorist & Stylist

laid-back, traveler, faithful volunteer

I graduated from Paul Mitchell The School in Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2012. I was then recruited by Kim Smiga, Certified Artist, as I was starting the transition behind the chair. During that time I attended education seminars and fashion shows in NYC and Philadelphia. I received an invaluable secondary education in the indistry while working under Kim, where I learned more than I ever could have dreamed.

The east coast is a different world, and as thankful as I was for the time I spent there, I couldn’t wait to get back to my hometown of Boise. Upon my return, I started managing social media content and mentoring at Paul Mitchell Boise. I loved the extra perk of continuing my education along with the opportunity to teach skills I had learned during my time back east. During this time I started behind the chair at a wonderful salon on the Boise Bench. Before I knew it, I was managing an almost full clientele.

My strength is definitely custom toning and blondes. A lot of my clients were seeking a more modern approach to hair color when we met, this led me to a new level of confidnece regarding my keen eye for correct color theory. I have the ability to discern the correct level and tone for every individual at every age. I also love textured cutting techniques and long layers.

I love my Collective Concept family and working downtown has always been on my bucket list. I am still accepting new clientele, and I can’t wait to meet you!

Emily, Colorist & Master Stylist

sunshine, positive energy, & awesome hair

I have been in the industry for 13 years.

I'm inspired by modern art, classical music, color, and kind people. This fuses with my passion for making people feel good about themselves and showing them their one-of-a-kind beauty. I don't try to make anyone fit into the standard mold.

My strengths are multi-dimensional brunettes, bright blondes, flowing blends of tones, and natural color that grows out seamlessly. I love healthy hair, & strive to give color that lasts while also maintaining integrity within the hair. I like pixies, beautiful layers, blunt bobs, & structured haircuts with lots of texture. I'm great at understanding what will look best on a client & helping them achieve the most flattering end result.

My family is very important to me & I feel lucky for the unique way that we found each other. My dog Lola is included in that :).

Our salon is warm and inviting. I'm so happy to be a part of the magic. Come say hi!

Hildy, Colorist & Master Stylist

mountain lover, dog mama, explorer

I've been behind the chair since 2007 when I graduated from the Aveda Institute in Seattle, Washington. I spent the next 11 years working at Panache. During these 11 years I attended advanced education all over the country from Celebrity Stylists like John Reyman and Tippy Shorter.

Versatility is what I consider to be my greatest strength. I have a passion for individualized color & a keen eye for precision bobs, pixies, and long layers. I love to fuse personal style with a very modern and organic approach.

Away from my chair, my heart lies in the mountains. I'm happiest when I'm exploring the back country with my trusty dog, Alfie. I also am passionate about traveling and have been all over, from Ireland to India.

I'm so excited to start the second chapter of my career at Collective Concept. I can't wait to meet all of you!

*currently taking new clients for Autumn 2019*

I started my career at Graeber & Company in downtown Boise and studied under some of the top stylists in the state of Idaho. After many years of learning, I left and opened my own salon in this very location called Lovely. I then sold the salon to my friend, Deseree, who renamed it Collective Concept. I left to open Bristle and Crown on the Bench. After a few years, I felt like it was time to return to the Belgravia building.

I have over 20+ years in the beauty industry and know how to make a woman feel fresh and beautiful when they leave my chair. I recognize the importance of providing the highest quality of service that only two decades of refinement can provide. I am an expert in curly hair and pixie cuts and love lived-in color. I am a wedding specialist and spend most of my summer weekends styling bridal parties and providing makeup services.

I like to go beyond providing basic beauty services and create an avenue for your self expression. I can’t wait to do the same for you!
